I find myself wondering what was the Chagossian 'state of play' was, when St Tony expressed 'deep sorrow' regarding the slave trade (2006). We British allow our most pernicious individuals to rise to obscene power - our noble queen does as she is told.
This is the Age of Perversity.

I've been following the situation on Chagos. It is unbelievable that England would do something like that to thse native islanders. That the whole world could stand idly by and not do anything about this is also remarkable. In Anguilla we have a situation brewing in that the British Governor Alistair Harrison has basically taken over the government. The Chief Minister basically has no say. The governor has just reshuffled the cabinet, putting them in positions in which they're
not qualified. Seems that he has an agenda, one in which he's seeking failure of the local government so that the home office can bring in their own people. The british govermment is trying its best to turn Anguilla into a failed state to take it over. They're taxing businesses into bankruptcy, firing people from their gov jobs and so on. Anguilla is not a ceded state. Anguilla has always been independent, but the British are changing the rules. Someone needs to look into what's happening down there. A small crowd has marched on the Gov's residence. He invited them in and was patronizing making look as though all was fine. He presents a negative front to anyone wanting to invest in Anguilla and for us Tourism is our lifesblood. If it dries up we die. Shades of Chagos might be in the making here.

What a moment! Note Teresa May's eyes (Home Secretary) as she listens. She knows the truth is being told. Have Benjamin Zephaniah as another voice in your fight. He has a way with words that cut through deceit.

The Immigration Ordinance that made it official was issued in 1971 but the process of getting rid of the people began in the late 1960s. I'm not sure which dates the play covers.

I have written about Diego Garcia in the past and got about 5,000 viewings. . I note that the publicity for the play at the Edinburgh Festival mentioned islanders being kidnapped in the 1960s. Is that correct? I thought it happened in 1971.

Important alteration!!

The date for the Carmarthen show has now changed to the Thursday 9th of June and Sunday 12th June, instead of the Friday 10th. All the others remain the same, hope to see you there, especially in Edinburgh. We all really hope that this can spread the word well, and help to be a force for change!

It's simply unbelieveable that people could be treated this way. The British government had no right to remove these people and allow the US military squatters to use the base for what we all know are illegal invasions. When Argentina wanted the Falklands back the Britishfs government sent military out there even though the land is closer to Argentina than the UK. The Chinese can continue to opress the Tibetans, we can spend trillions on murdering people in Iraq, Afganistan, Libya, Pakistan etc, etc,. purely for our own gain BUT we deny the rights of other human beings whose land we yet again stole. Why are we such thieves and so uncivilised, why?
