We are asking all candidates to sign up to a set of three asks:

Join the Chagos Islands All Party Parliamentary Group
Please e-mail the text below to your candidates: you can find their details on this downloadable spreadsheet. Edit freely but make sure you keep the Survey Monkey link.
Short on time? Just send them a message on social media: you're candidates contact details should also be in this spreadsheet. Find their details and say something like,
As a voter in your constituency, I would like to know your views on the Chagos Islands.
In case you are not aware, the Chagos Islands are a British Overseas Territory in the Indian Ocean. In the 1960s and 70s, they were forcibly expelled by the UK and US Governments so that the US military could build a base on the largest island - Diego Garcia.
Since then, a community has grown in the UK and they have fought for their right to return to the islands. More recently, they have campaigned against unfair nationality law that does not account for their unique history. You can find out more info on the Chagos Islands at http://www.chagossupport.org.uk.
The UK Chagos Support Association have created a short survey for candidates to fill out: https://www.surveymonkey.co.uk/r/B5MQGNL. I would be very grateful if you could take the time to do so.
Thank you for taking action! We will share all responses on our website.
